Tossing My Hat In

In looking over the paintings I’ve done this past year, it wasn’t as many as I might have initially wanted, but it’s still a decent number. I have about twenty that are finished and only a handful that are currently in the “surface to be reused” pile. And there are a few that I really do like, although I expect that by this time next year I will be much less satisfied with them.

Then I noticed that a local gallery I’ve bought from before has an open call for a small works show. Small in this case is fourteen inches or less, which is most of my paintings at the moment. I like sharing my work and getting into another show is on my list of the new year, so why not? It’s a national open call, so my chances of actually getting anything into the show are pretty slim, but it’s worth trying. I picked out five pieces (because there’s an entry fee and five is the maximum number of submissions) that I thought would fit well on the walls with the sorts of art I’ve seen there and sent in my submission. The selections will be announced in about three weeks.

In the meantime, I have more painting to do.

I make art, I fence, and I’m always in search of another great book to read. Life is good.
